Phil Juttlestad The depiction of the recently de-commissioned Bull Run power generation facility represents a challenge to document a truely historic cultural icon that has long served the City of Portland’s demands for electric energy. The rendering of industrial machinery against a backdrop of natural beauty and architectural grace recalls Durand’s Advance of Ciilization and the philosophy of “industry in the garden.” My depiction of the Bull Run facility attempts to understand this stately facility from which power was made out of nature.
